About Our Podcast

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed just how vulnerable and unprepared Americans are for human-caused or climate-related disasters.

Despite billions of tax dollars spent over the past two decades to ‘prepare’ we continue to fall short when it comes to poor outcomes, especially for marginalized communities and small businesses, nearly half of which shut their doors forever after a major disaster.

Preparedness Matters Podcast is a movement to “change the game” in disaster preparedness for families and communities. Our Podcast will break the mold of telling people to ‘get a kit’ and offer realistic, practical, and cost-effective solutions to ensure households, communities, and businesses a truly ready to face the next emergency.

The Preparedness Matters Podcast will broaden the tent of information and ideas, to provide informative and useful information from a variety of disciplines, not just from a public safety viewpoint. Art delaCruz served honorably for over 22 years in the United States Navy and enjoyed a career that included a broad range of assignments. Art commanded a Navy strike-fighter squadron, spent one year with McKinsey & Co. as a Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellow, served as a Topgun instructor, and made six combat deployments.
